The Televerse #129- The West Wing with Caroline Siede

The Olympics may still be going strong, but though there were fewer shows, the ones that aired brought it this week, giving us plenty to discuss on the podcast. First we take a look at a few shows premiering in the next week (About a Boy, Growing Up Fisher, Mind Games), then we talk over the week’s comedies, including stellar installments of Girls and Looking, and we round up our discussion with the Star-Crossed pilot and the dramas: House of Cards season two, Justified, and True Detective. Afterward, we welcome Caroline Siede from The A.V. Club to the DVD Shelf to help us discuss Aaron Sorkin’s ever-optimistic, ever-walking, and ever-talking political fantasy, The West Wing.

The Televerse #127- The X-Files with Emily VanDerWerff

Between the State of the Union address and the Super Bowl, a lot of television took the night off, making things a bit more manageable this week on the podcast. First we look over a handful of comedies, including the underseen Broad City and Looking, and then we tackle the hour-longs, including the finales of American Horror Story Coven and Sherlock. Then we head over to the DVD Shelf with returning guest Todd VanDerWerff of The A.V. Club and TV on the Internet to discuss the cult sensation that is still somehow underrated, The X-Files.

The Televerse #125- Treme with Dave Walker

There are still more television premieres to discuss on the podcast, with the midseason debuts continuing this week. First we take a look at the comedies, including the pilot of Looking, then the genre offerings, including the pilot of Black Sails and finale of Sleepy Hollow, and we finish up with the dramas, including the long-awaited US premiere of Sherlock. Afterward, we welcome back Dave Walker of the Times-Picayune (NOLA.com) to help us take a look at the final season of the fantastic and underseen Treme, as well as the series as a whole.
