The Televerse #465- Spotlight on Tales From the Loop Season 1

It’s a (recent) Televerse first. We’ve found Kate’s COVID-19 viewing limits. This week on the podcast, Noel and Kate spend some time with Tales From the Loop season one, Amazon Prime’s quasi-anthology sci-fi series. Before that, though, there’s a full week in TV. We kick things off with the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season five and Jelle’s Marble Runs: Marble League 2020, then check in with Perry Mason before heading to genre with Cardcaptor Sakura seasons one through three, Dimension 20: Fantasy High, the Wynonna Earp premiere, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and Stargirl. Take a listen for our thoughts, and the show that seems to have broken Kate, then reach out with your takes on the week’s TV.

The Televerse #464- Spotlight on Los Espookys Season 1

It’s San Diego Comic Con International week! Which we’re skipping, for the first time since 2012. The con may still be happening at home, but if there are no overcrowded convention hallways and persistent background noise, it’s just not SDCC. We’ll hopefully be back next year, but for now, we’re focusing on our standard coverage, and thankfully this week gave us plenty to dive in with. We kick off the episode with Our Week in TV, including a surprising Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, another disconcerting I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, the penultimate RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, two more thrilling events in Jelle’s Marble Runs: Marble League 2020, and shocking and eventful episodes of Stargirl and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Then we head over to the season spotlight and have fun with the first season of HBO’s horror-tinged comedy Los Espookys. Listen for our thoughts, then reach out with your own take on the week’s TV.

The Televerse #463- Spotlight on The Great Season 1

It’s been another tough week, with bad news outweighing good. Noel and Kate talk through the TV-related portion of this, before moving on to the week’s TV. We kick things off with the comedies, with Noel sharing his thoughts on Hulu’s Palm Springs and NBC’s 30 Rock-themed upfront presentation-slash-reunion episode. Then we talk genre, checking in on Stargirl and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Last, we round out the week with reality, so of course that means Jelle’s Marble Runs: Marble League 2020, which had another two events, the long jump and the 5m hurdles, and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, with this season’s ball. Afterward, we head to the spotlight section to sing the praises of Hulu’s The Great, which dropped its first season back in May. Listen for our thoughts, then reach out with your take on the week’s TV and the shows you’ve been discovering during quarantine.

The Televerse #462- Spotlight on The Baby-Sitters Club Season 1

It’s ’90s nostalgia time on The Televerse, as Noel and Kate dive in with Netflix’s new adaptation of the beloved book series The Baby-Sitters Club. Between discussions of whether we are Kristys, Mary Annes, Claudias, Staceys, or Dawns, or the Camp Moosehead director, we look at the highlights of the first season and whether it lives up to the buzz. Before that, though, we have another reality-heavy week in TV to discuss. We kick things off with the latest Jelle’s Marble Runs: Marble League 2020 bouts, the funnel endurance test and the new Newton’s Cradle event, then talk The Bachelor on Holey Moley II: The Sequel, and round out reality with the finale of Legendary and the latest Snatch Game of Love on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Then we head over to genre, with looks at Stargirl and an ’80s-tastic Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Tune in for our thoughts, then reach out with your own take on the ascension of Karen and any other Baby-Sitters Club reflections.

The Televerse #390- Spotlight on One Day at a Time Season 3

Netflix is doing its annual dance of threatening not to renew one of its best shows unless fans do their promo work for them, and irritating as that is, let it not be said that The Televerse didn’t pitch in. This episode, Noel and Kate talk through a truncated week in TV, looking at black-ish, Miracle Workers, the premiere of Documentary Now!, Supergirl, and the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars. We kick things off with a truncated week in TV, including the premiere of Miracle Workers, another fun Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a brief look at One Day at a Time season three, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, I Am the Night, and the penultimate RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars.
