The Televerse #166- 2014’s Live-Action Superhero Adaptations with Sonia Saraiya

Kate’s under the weather, so it’s a somewhat truncated podcast this week. First we look at the week’s comedies, including The McCarthys' pilot and the triumphant return of Adventure Time, but unfortunately not Bob’s Burgers (Kate and Simon will discuss Bob’s fabulous Halloween episode next week—The Televerse regrets the error!). Then we talk some genre, including the latest episodes of Arrow and Constantine, and we wrap up the week with the dramas, including the premiere of Elementary, a lengthy chat on Kingdom, and a look at the fantastic HBO miniseries, Olive Kitteridge. Afterward, Sonia Saraiya, the TV critic for Salon, joins us at the DVD Shelf to discuss the current batch of live-action superhero series airing on the networks and what the various properties are getting right, and wrong.

The Televerse #142- The Good Wife Season 5 with Sonia Saraiya and Noel Kirkpatrick

It’s finale-palooza this week on the podcast, with seven different TV shows airing season or series finales. After some upfronts talk and listener feedback, we dive in with the comedies, including the pilot for The Maya Rudolph Show and the Legit and Bob’s Burgers finales. Then Kate takes a look at the finale of The Amazing Race: All-Stars, before both Kate and Sean break down a crazy week for genre, including a preview of The CW’s upcoming miniseries Labyrinth and finale talk for Grimm, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and Arrow. Next are the dramas, including previews of The Night Shift and The Normal Heart and more finale talk, this time for Elementary. Afterward, Sean takes the season spotlight off, as Kate welcomes Sonia Saraiya from The A.V. Club and Noel Kirkpatrick from TV.com on for a super-sized look at the fantastic fifth season of The Good Wife.

The Televerse #139- M*A*S*H with Dan Toland

We welcome new cohost Sean Colletti to the podcast this week, and fortunately there was plenty of interesting TV to discuss. First we take a look at the comedies, including a preview of Louie, the pilots of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Bad Teacher, and the Parks and Rec finale. Then we talk genre, including an eventful Arrow and the still controversial Game of Thrones, and we round up our week in TV with the dramas, including new addition to the podcast Elementary. Afterward, Dan Toland of Earth-2.net returns to the DVD Shelf to help us take a look at the long-running, classic sitcom M*A*S*H.
