This Is Our Design #20- “Sorbet” with Molly Eichel

Join in and listen to co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick as they are joined by the fabulous Molly Eichel, whose reviews of Hannibal you've probably already read at The A.V. Club. There's a lot to break down here, including some in-depth thoughts on the man himself, Hannibal Lecter. But also prepare for an extra detailed "Kate's Classical Corner" in addition to "The Devil in the Details" and "Spoiled Meat," which have been taking the universe by storm. Or so we'd like to think. Feel free to join in the conversation by leaving a comment.

This Is Our Design #19- “Entree” with Steve Prokopy

In this episode, co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick are joined by Steve Prokopy of Ain't It Cool News as they delve into a bigger, sadder Jack Crawford who could use a helping hand (or arm). Stick around for all the hidden treasures of "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," which isn't as disgusting as it sounds. Or maybe it is. You can let us know by leaving a comment!

This Is Our Design #18- “Coquilles” with Zack Handlen and Dennis Perkins

Nostalgia is only one feeling we draw on in This Is Our Design, however. The others are much less benign. They are, in fact, troubling, just like Hannibal. We'd like to say "Luckily, you have co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick to guide you," but there's nothing lucky about that, at least regarding Sean, who curses at his inanity at some point in this podcast (listener discretion is advised). However, special guests Zack Handlen and Dennis Perkins from The A.V. Club swoop in to alleviate the whole situation. Tune in for some lengthy discussions of friendship, inevitability, and the wonder that is Gina Torres. Also, stick around for the following recurring segments: "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," and sit in awe at how cleverly titled they remain, even after the novelty has worn off. Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.

This Is Our Design #17- “Oeuf” with David Bax

NBC might not have aired it, but we here at This Is Our Design were never going to pass up the chance to talk about "Oeuf," Hannibal's most notorious episode. Co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick are joined by David Bax of Battleship Pretension and Hey, Watch This! to break down the episode (and...break...some...eggs!? (it's a pun on the title (only now do we realize breaking and cracking something are two different processes))). Discussion centers heavily around ideas of family as we lead into some of our best editions of the recurring segments yet: "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," which has much to do with kitchenware. Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.

This Is Our Design #16- “Potage” with Deepayan Sengupta

This week, co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick are joined by Sound On Sight's Deepayan Sengupta to break down the continuation of the Hobbs story. Tune in for some discussion of Hannibal as tragedy and listen in awe as the panelists do some on-the-fly psychoanalysis. Also, stick around for the three greatest recurring segments to ever exist on a podcast called This Is Our Design: "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," which first-time viewers of the series will want to avoid (unless you don't care about spoilers, in which case you deserve a high-five.*high-five*). Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.

The Televerse #152- Interview with Brian Reitzell and SDCC 2014 Wrapup

San Diego Comic-Con International 2014 has come and gone, giving us plenty to discuss this week on the podcast. First we look at a fairly full week in TV, starting with some reality and comedy (including SYTYCD and Adventure Time), then moving on to genre (including The Strain), and wrapping up with the dramas (including the pilot for Manhattan, Rectify, and this week’s fantastic Masters of Sex). Afterward, we’re excited to share Kate’s interview with Hannibal composer Brian Reitzell at SDCC; two-volume albums for both season one and two of Hannibal are being released this fall by Lakeshore Records, starting with the digital version of the season one soundtrack on August 5th, and fans of Hannibal and scoring in general will want to check them out. Finally, we finish up this week’s podcast with our SDCC 2014 wrapup, as Kate and her sister Maggie break down their Comic-Con experience.

This Is Our Design #15- “Amuse-Bouche” with Les Chappell

Welcome back to This Is Our Design, where we do our best not to kill people and turn them into mushroom fertilizer. We can't say the same about what goes on in Hannibal, though, so listeners beware. Also, beware: Awesome discussion ensues when listening to this podcast. This week, that awesomeness is derived from co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick's special guest, Les Chappell of The A.V. Club, who has returned to the insanity of This is Our Design despite his better judgment. Included in the discussion are some thoughts about the theme of connection in Hannibal, opinions of new characters, and OH MY GOODNESS, IS HE TURNING PEOPLE INTO MUSHROOMS!? Also keep an ear out for our recurring segments "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," the most spoiler-y of spoiler-y segments a podcast called This Is Our Design has to offer. Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.

Also returning: "Kate's Classical Corner" and "The Devil in the Details," the two greatest and best recurring segments ever— A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES! Get. Ready. This season on This is Our Design, a spectacular new recurring segment joins the podcast. Make way for "Spoiled Meat," in which the panelists will twirl their metaphorical mustaches with all the spoiler-y stuff they know about Hannibal. Those watching the series for the first time, stay away!

This Is Our Design #13- “Mizumono” with Noel Kirkpatrick

Welcome back to This Is An Incredibly Long Podcast. Wait... Welcome back to This Is Our Design! If you've been one of those people asking for an unnecessarily long discussion of the Hannibal finale recorded by three insane people, you've come to the right place. Co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick are back to talk "Mizumono" (and the season/series in general) with This Is Our Design veteran Noel Kirkpatrick from TV.com. We usually try to outline the conversation topics in these posts, but there are simply too many this week. Everything. That is what's addressed in this podcast. Stick around to the end (fellow insane people) for the Hannibal Bonus Round and some closing thoughts and thank yous for everyone who has participated in this podcast in some form or another. Gratitude to listeners for being so supportive! We hope you enjoy this extra long discussion of what is undoubtedly one of television's finest season finales. Sean and Kate will be back during the summer to podcast about Hannibal's first season, so be on the lookout for those. Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.

This Is Our Design #12- “Tome-wan” with Vincenzo Natali

Welcome back, listeners of This Is Our Design, the Hannibal podcast that runs longer than episodes of Hannibal. (Thanks for putting up with us.) This week, we're actually giving you the equivalent of two episodes just in case next week's podcast gets pulled for being too graphic for network podcasting. We can't make any promises. It's a special episode this week, which features co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick speaking with director Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Splice and two episodes from this season of Hannibal, among other works) about "Tome-wan," as well as more general conversation about directing, television, and the series overall. The main discussion covers a range of topics, including loneliness and structure in the episode. Also featured, what might be the most detailed "Kate's Classical Corner" to date and a lightning round of "The Devil in the Details." Have a listen and feel free to join the discussion by leaving some comments.
