The Televerse #286- Covering President Trump in Late Night

It’s another short podcast this week, as a work commitment forces Kate to keep things (comparatively) concise. There’s still plenty of TV to discuss, however, and Noel and Kate kick things off with a quick check-in on the penultimate episode of Top Chef: South Carolina before diving in with the comedies. This week, that includes the season premiere of The Detour, fun episodes of Speechless, black-ish, Superstore, and Jane the Virgin. Next up are the drama and genre offerings, including a preview of next week’s event series When We Rise, the much-anticipated premiere of The Good Fight, an intense Steven Universe, Supergirl’s middling Valentine’s Day episode, and another dream and memory-focused Legion. Afterward, Noel and Kate briefly chat about how various late night shows are handling the Trump administration, which shows and hosts are best suited to covering President Trump, and which are currently falling flat.

The Televerse #285- Spotlight on Carmilla

With Noel under the weather, we keep things on the shorter side this week on the podcast. First we talk through a handful of our high¬―and low―lights of the week’s TV, including the Doubt premiere, a Lena-filled Supergirl, a Very Special Arrow, a potentially promising Legion, a mixed Superstore, and a time-jumped Jane the Virgin. Afterward, inspired by the upcoming ClexaCon, we head to the DVD Shelf and dive in with acclaimed Canadian web series Carmilla.

The Televerse #284- Spotlight on Jane the Virgin, “Chapter Fifty-Four”

Between season finales, premieres, previews, and a surprise shake-up on Jane the Virgin, it’s been a big week in TV. First up this episode, Noel and Kate talk comedy, looking at the premiere of Comedy Central’s Detroiters and some of ABC’s Valentine’s Day comedies before having an unusually contentious discussion of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s season two finale. Next up are the drama and genre offerings, with Noel previewing CBS All Access’ The Good Fight, Kate joining in on Noel’s skepticism over Legion, and both enjoying the role reversals on this week’s Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. Afterward, it’s time to spotlight Jane the Virgin, which closed out Part Two with the lovely and emotional “Chapter Fifty-Four.” Spoilers abound, so wait to listen to the spotlight until you’re caught up. Chime in with your thoughts in the comments, and let us know who to look out for at ClexaCon!
