Things get controversial this week on the podcast, as Noel Kirkpatrick from TV.com returns to help Kate break down the week’s TV. First up are the comedies, including Thanksgiving-inspired episodes of Fresh Off the Boat, Jane the Virgin, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and we round out our week in TV with the genre and drama offerings, including Adventure Time: Stakes, Limitless, Manhattan, and Fargo. Afterward, it’s time for another season spotlight, as Noel and Kate dive deep with season one of Netflix’s Jessica Jones, a feminist, noir addition to the Marvel TV universe.
It’s another long podcast this week, with Caroline Siede of The A.V. Club and Debating Doctor Who returning to help Kate break down a comedy-heavy week in TV. We kick things off with said comedies and some reality talk, including looks at the continuation of Mr. Show, Netflix’s With Bob and David, the pilot of Project Runway Junior, a theatre-inspired Nathan For You, and much more. Next up are the dramas, including the new Amazon pilot Good Girls Revolt and Grey’s Anatomy, and we round out the week with the genre offerings, including a preview of The Man in the High Castle, a look at the pilot of Into the Badlands, and lots of superhero TV talk. Then in lieu of the DVD Shelf, we dive in with a season spotlight on the recent revival of Project Greenlight, and determine whether we’re #TeamEffie or #TeamJason.
We keep things local once again, with PopOptiq and The Televixen’s delightful Elena Rivera joining Kate to talk through another very full week in TV. First we look at the comedies, including Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang’s Master of None and the season three premiere of Mom, as well as standout episodes of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and You’re the Worst. Next up are the genre and drama offerings, including Flesh and Bone and the premiere of Elementary, and we round out the podcast by heading to the DVD Shelf to gush about the dearly departed Parks and Recreation.
Our usual format is back this week on the podcast, with PopOptiq’s own Deepayan Sengupta joining Kate to talk through a very full week in TV. First we look at the comedies, including fantastic episodes of You’re the Worst and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and catch up with Other Space season one. Next are the genre offerings, including the premieres of Les Revenants season two, Grimm season five, and Ash vs Evil Dead season one, as well as plenty of superhero and The CW fare. We finish out the week’s TV with the dramas, with a deep dive on The Affair and a timed roundup of Kate’s notable drama viewing, and afterwards, we head to the DVD Shelf for the second installment of the Holiday Omnibus. This time, Deepayan and Kate look at three memorable (or otherwise, as it turns out) Halloween episodes: Quantum Leap’s “Boogieman”, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s “Halloween II”, and the beloved classic, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
